Our technology

We are revolutionizing seafloor mapping by integrating underwater hyperspectral imaging with AI-driven automated data processing. This powerful combination allows us to map the seafloor with unprecedented speed, efficiency, and detail. By ground-truthing aerial and satellite imagery, we facilitate the global unlocking of blue nature-based solutions, thereby uncovering the seafloor’s economic and ecological value.

Our team

Over seven years, our diverse team has grown to over 30 talented professionals, including engineers, business developers, software developers, product designers, data scientists, and marine scientists. With strong commercial growth, our next major focus is building a dynamic sales team to fuel further expansion. In this leadership role, you will also oversee PlanBlue's communications and administrative teams, leading initiatives to scale our business and strengthen customer and partner relationships to ensure ongoing success

What you'll be doing

Reporting directly to our CSO, you’ll oversee a variety of business functions, including sales, HR, project management, and daily operations. We’re looking for a proactive team centric leader who can foster a collaborative, inclusive and supportive environment while keeping our mission and business plan in clear focus.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing operational strategies that align with PlanBlue’s business plan objectives.

• Building strong relationships with clients and partners, securing and staying on top of contracts initially yourself and later through the growing sales team.

• Ensuring cross-functional collaboration and alignment with company growth goals.

• Managing and developing your sales team, promoting a positive and productive working environment.

• Monitoring sales pipelines and business performance, adapting strategies to targets and client needs.

• Streamlining internal processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.

• Analyzing industry and market trends to help PlanBlue stay ahead and maintain our competitive edge.

You’ll be engaging directly with partners and clients (especially in the beginning), ensuring open communication and strategic alignment. Your ability to lead, communicate effectively, and maintain a sales-driven mindset will be essential for success in this role.

What we hope you bring

  • 10+ years in a senior business or operational role, ideally with experience in the Blue Economy, geospatial industry, offshore/coastal construction, or environmental monitoring.

  • A proven track record in scaling teams and driving revenue growth.

  • Strong sales and strategic skills, with excellent communication abilities for building relationships with clients and investors.

  • Fluency in English, with German language skills as a plus.

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Experience working in a startup environment.

  • Knowledge of agile methodologies.

  • Previous experience in the Blue Economy, geospatial, or environmental sectors.

  • Proficiency in German.
