Head of Sales
PlanBlue is on a mission to harness the critical role of the seafloor in addressing global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and food insecurity. Its cutting-edge technology integrates advanced imaging with AI-driven data processing, delivering automated seafloor intelligence that uncovers the seafloor’s true ecological and economic value at scale and at speed. Over the last seven years, we have built a dynamic, diverse team of engineers, business developers, data scientists, and marine experts, bringing together a mix of skills and expertise necessary to achieve our mission. As we continue our rapid commercial growth, we are looking for an ambitious and results-driven Head of Sales to scale revenue, lead our business team, and build a high-performing sales organization. Reporting directly to our Chief Strategy Officer, you will:
Drive Revenue Growth: Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve and surpass company revenue targets.
Lead and Inspire: Manage PlanBlue’s business team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Build Partnerships: Cultivate strong relationships with clients and stakeholders in ocean-related industries, such as offshore wind, offshore and coastal development (incl. environmental impact analyses), blue carbon/bonds financing, nature positive compensations and restorations, and aquaculture.
Manage the Sales Pipeline: Oversee the entire sales cycle, from lead generation to deal negotiation and closure.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure alignment with company growth objectives.
Identify Opportunities: Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities to refine strategies and drive business growth.
Represent PlanBlue: Serve as a brand ambassador at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities, promoting our mission and expanding market presence.
Proven Sales Expertise: 5+ years of sales experience, with a demonstrated ability to drive significant revenue growth in the maritime or ocean-related industries.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management abilities, with a proven track record of building and inspiring high-performing teams.
Industry Knowledge: Extensive network and experience in sectors such as offshore wind, offshore development, blue carbon financing, geospatial or maritime industry, or aquaculture.
Communication and Negotiation: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a talent for building lasting relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
Strategic Mindset: Analytical and strategic thinker, capable of interpreting sales data and market trends to inform decision-making.
Language Skills: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in German is a plus.
