Are you excited to make blue carbon assessment scalable underwater and, thus, restoration of the seafloor more attractive?

Yes?

Then this is for you!

Part-time · Bremen / Remote Possible

Our technology

We are combining underwater hyperspectral imaging and AI-based automated data processing to map the seafloor quicker, more efficiently and in greater detail. By ground-truthing aerial and satellite imagery, we help to unlock blue nature-based solutions around the globe and contribute to revealing the seafloor’s true economic and ecological value.

Our team

Over the past couple of years, our engineering team has steadily grown to 10+ people. Since we do both hardware and software, we have a wide range of specialities for a relatively small team ranging from mechanical design to electronics and software.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of the Data Science Team, and work with our scientists and engineers, your task is to further planblue’s methodology on how we estimate carbon stock in seagrass meadows, using our unique seafloor monitoring solution. You’ll be responsible for finalising the methodology to be submitted to an open access, peer-reviewed journal, and you’ll process any review requests. As you’ll be working together with both scientists and engineers, collaboration, communication, and coordination are a big part of success in your role.

  • Coordinate and write the technical paper on our methodology.

  • Directly communicate with the scientific journal as part of the publication process.

  • Evaluate the thoroughness of our methodology and provide your insights to improve it where needed.

  • Working experience in seagrass conservation or restoration projects

  • A PhD in Marine Science or a related field

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in English

    Bonus points if you have

→ Research shows that while men apply to jobs if they meet ~60% of criteria, women and those in traditionally underrepresented groups tend to apply only if they check all the boxes. So, if you think you have what it takes but don't meet every single point above, please still get in touch. We'd love to have a chat and see if you could be a great fit.

→ We value the diversity of our colleagues. People with disabilities are currently underrepresented in our company. We want to change that.
