Our technology

We make the invisible visible, by popping up the seafloor in high detail. Our underwater satellites combine advanced imaging with AI and underwater navigation. We build a seafloor atlas providing geo-referenced maps with multiple software solutions. We enable automated systematic seafloor monitoring for various applications, such as underwater constructions (e.g. offshore wind), but also tackle ecological and economic impact of climate change and plastic waste in the oceans.

Our team

Over the past couple of years, our engineering team has steadily grown to 10+ people. Since we do both hardware and software, we have a wide range of specialities for a relatively small team ranging from mechanical design to electronics and software. As our first VP of Engineering, you will report directly into our co-founders Joost & Guy (CEO and CTO, respectively) and work closely with the product and business teams. Your work will be key to further grow planblue’s team & engineering efforts to fulfil our mission.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading a cross-functional teams of engineers

  • Define the engineering roadmap and empower our teams to deliver on time.
  • Derive high-level technical requirements and lead decision making in technical architecture design.
  • Hire, grow and develop the engineering team to become even better on all fronts
  • Use your knowledge on engineering workflows to increase efficiency and professionalize the engineering process.

What we hope you bring

  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience with leading, building and growing combined hardware and software engineering teams (i.e., aerospace or automotive)

  • Strong organizational leadership & technical problem-solving skills
  • An excellent communicator who collaborates efficiently with product and business teams.
  • In-depth understanding of (systems) engineering processes & best practices and the drive to implement them
